Mission Africa (Formerly Qua Iboe Fellowship)
Mission Africa (formerly known as the Qua Iboe Fellowship) is an interdenominational, evangelical, Christian mission organisation. When founded in 1887, by the Irish independent missionary Samuel Bill, the organisation ministered in Nigeria. Today, it works in Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Chad, while maintaining headquarters in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The organisation's missionary efforts today are focused on theological education, church planting and evangelism, Hospitals and medical work, HIV/AIDS ministries, and youth ministries especially with streetkids.
Our Mission Statement is to "bring God's hope and share God's love". As a Missionary organisation we believe it is essential to share the Good News of Jesus with the unreached whilst also showing Christ's love in practical ways to those in need.
Short Term opportunities. Mission Africa sends out teams every year to Africa to help and encourage the local churches and share God’s love with those who are marginalised and unreached. The teams go and work alongside our African partners to work with street kids, AIDS projects and hospitals. Telling people about Jesus is also an important part of what our teams do, as well as helping young Christians to grow in their faith. In recent years Mission Africa has been sending out teams from Churches who have been involved in a variety of projects from working with streetkids to building HIV/AIDs testing and community centres. Mission Africa also has a range of opportunities for Medical Electives and GAP year placements. See the website for current opportunities.
Long Term opportunities. The needs throughout Africa are so great that there are always a wide range of opportunities to serve there as a missionary - whether in very practical ways or through direct spiritual input. A wide range of opportunities exist for those called and equipped by God for service in Africa. Again, see the website for current opportunities.
Church Planting and Evangelism are very important areas of focus for the mission, along with Theological Education and Medical work. Africa has so many needs and we especially want to help those who are oppressed and marginalised. We help people suffering with HIV/AIDS, street kids and women who are exploited. As an interdenominational evangelical mission, we want to share the love of Jesus with the people of Africa; reaching the unreached; loving the unloved and discipling new believers.
